Located at 604 N 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19123, United States, this charming spot specializes in traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern twist. Whether you're a seasoned sushi enthusiast or new to Japanese food, Seiko's menu caters to a wide variety of tastes, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

The moment you step inside Seiko Japanese Restaurant, you’re greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The interior design strikes a perfect balance between contemporary and classic Japanese aesthetics, creating a cozy yet elegant setting. It's the ideal place for a romantic date night, a casual meal with friends, or even a family outing. One of the standout features of this restaurant is its attention to detail, not only in the food but also in creating an environment where you can truly relax and enjoy the dining experience.

The menu at Seiko is a true reflection of Japanese culinary traditions, offering everything from freshly prepared sushi and sashimi to sizzling teriyaki dishes and flavorful ramen. A particular highlight is their sushi selection, where the fish is always fresh, and the presentation is impeccable. The chefs take great pride in sourcing only the finest ingredients, ensuring that each dish is not just a meal but a memorable experience. For example, their signature rolls, like the Seiko Roll, are a crowd favorite, combining fresh seafood with unique sauces and toppings.

If you’re looking for something more filling, their hot dishes are just as impressive. The teriyaki chicken is juicy and tender, while the tempura shrimp is light and crispy. The ramen, served in a rich broth with a variety of toppings, is perfect for a cozy, comforting meal, especially during the colder months.

But it’s not just the food that sets Seiko apart; it’s the level of service you receive. The staff is incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They’re more than happy to help guide you through the options if you’re unsure about what to order, and they make you feel right at home.

In terms of price, Seiko offers good value for the quality of the food. While it might be a bit on the higher end compared to fast casual spots, the quality and experience more than make up for it. It’s perfect for those special occasions or whenever you just want to treat yourself to a delicious and satisfying meal.

  • I love ordering the platters at Seiko. We've gotten the blue mountain party tray and the ocean party tray before. The rolls are fresh and tasty and nigiri is pretty good - not the MOST fresh/tasty but still tasty and had a lot of variety. Blue mountain party tray is our favorite for special occasions - especially the volcano roll and the northern liberty. I really liked this tray because there was a ton of variety and roll-to-roll, it didn't feel like I was eating the same combination of spicy tuna, eel, crab, etc. like some other places. 80 pieces sounds like a lot but the rolls are pretty small, so the blue mountain party tray coupled with maybe 1-2 more special rolls fed 3 hungry people.

  • If you’re looking for no frills fish with a good atmosphere and amazing service, Seiko is the place to go. I don’t stray far from the basics with crazy rolls, which they do have. And I judge the fish on the basics. The tuna, salmon, white tuna, and smoked salmon are amazing. The yellowtail has consistently been the best of that fish I’ve ever had. The rock shrimp has a unique flavor spin that others don’t have. And the salmon dumplings are unique. You should go here.

  • Seiko had been so consistently a nice experience for dining in and takeout. Even my toddler loves their food. The chirashi bowl is so good!

  • My wife and I visited Seiko last week and we were very satisfied with the food. I ordered White Tuna carpaccio for appetizer and I got to say that's my most favorite dish from Seiko. Thinly sliced tuna with a tangy sauce they put in the plate really brings out the flavor. My wife ordered Kamikaze roll and couple other ones. They're all very good, crunchy and filling. Definitely coming back for more.

  • Place is BYOB. Have dined in and ordered take out before and they are both amazing! 10/10 taste. Highly recommend the hot stone bibimbap! Would go again to try out other items.

  • This wasn’t just food: it was a full culinary experience. Everything was fresh, healthy, and generously portioned. The sashimi was the best I’ve ever had: silky, clean, and incredibly fresh, with none of that “rough sea” taste. The shumai actually had shrimp inside, and the chicken katsu was delicious with sauces that tasted genuinely homemade. The atmosphere was calm. With two appetizers and two entrées, the bill came to only $50 for two people. This place is truly underrated, a real gem.
